Marc, the term "poikilocytosis" only means change in shape so the specific change must be identified. In your case, that change is that the cells appear more oval than they should. Ovalocytes can be seen in: iron deficiency lead or other heavy metal exposure vitamin B12 deficiency folic acid deficiency hemolytic anemias - both caused by auto-antibodies and by non-immune causes various liver conditions (including a too low cholesterol resulting from medication) hereditary ovalocytosis

The RDW will increase any time that there is a red cell production difficulty Immune hemolysis iorn deficiency B12/folate deficience myelofibrosis sideroblastic anemia hemolysis with schistocytes CLL with a greatly elevated absolute lymphocyte count and a lot more than are germaine here.

So - could it be liver disease? Yes Could it not be liver disease? Yes

Why don't you ask your physician to explain the results to you - especially in the context of how you are feeling, what your history has been, and the rest of the values.
